I believe that NYX was the first brand to have given mainstream light to matte liquid lipsticks with their infamous Soft Matte Lip Creams. That line was such a cult favorite that I feel like anyone who claims to be either a makeup addict or a lipstick addict (or both) has tried at least one shade from it.
Honestly though, I hate those damn things. They’re little tubes of pure evil and disappointment—drying, patchy, makes my lips all gross and chapped, and they’re just not worth my time and money.
So when I heard that NYX released another line of liquid lipsticks, I couldn’t help but feel intrigued. Maybe this time, I could finally experience what all these people are raving about with the SMLCs?

Well, let’s just say that after giving the shade Ruffle Trim (a cinnamon pink color) from the NYX Lip Lingerie collection (weightless liquid lipsticks with a plush matte finish) a try, I have totally and completely given up on all NYX lip products (and I have tried at least one from almost every line).
Ruffle Trim was extremely patchy and layering it does not help because you need to wait until the first coat dries out before you can apply the second layer—and the waiting game is not fun as this does not dry out as fast as I need it to.
It was super drying on the lips to the point where I can actually feel the flakes and peel off the lipstick “crumbs” off of my lips (eww) by the 3rd hour!

And ironically, it’s also tacky as fuck—especially after a cup of coffee, a glass of water, or even just a snack.
DOUBLE. BIG. NO. NO.
NYX, I don’t wanna keep wasting my time and money on you so I’m giving up and sticking to the brands that actually work on my lips. It’s just too bad because the shade selection is great and the price is really affordable!
I guess some things are just not meant to be.
I was planning to buy this pa naman! Buti nalang.
