The trailer that I saw on Facebook seemed interesting enough that it caught my attention. Just my luck since I was looking for a new series to watch anyway. I’ve been watching the same TV shows for a couple of years and I wanted something new.
And in this day and age, Netflix is usually the way to go if you’re looking for a (more often unique) show to binge watch.
Everything Sucks! is a coming of age series about high school teenagers. What’s new about that, right? Well, for one, this series is set in the ’90s. And it’s got diversity, man! The lead is a black AV kid; the other lead is a lesbian; and the rest are a mish-mash of popular kids, nerds, AV and drama geeks, and more.

At first, this bore that crap out of me. The only consolation that I had at the time was that this was only 20+ minutes long per episode which meant that I didn’t have to endure that much.
There was no obvious plot in the beginning and it was basically just a show about these teens and their day-to-day life, which, honestly, doesn’t seem that interesting.
And then, towards the end, something happened that made it less awful and actually kind of amazing. I’m not going to say anything beyond that because I hate spoiling as much as I hate being spoiled.
Bottom line, it was a good show. Not great just yet and I’d have to wait for about a year for the second season because Netflix sucks like that but I guess it’s worth it.
And oh, the soundtrack of this show is fucking amazing. All the great hits from the ’90s plus a few haven’t-heard-of-those-before songs are on here and it’s just like angels in my ears. In fact, this inspired me to create my own ’90s alternative rock hits on my Spotify.
I don’t love this show just yet and I’d have to watch the second season to see how it goes but hopefully, it just gets better from here on out.
Loved the show overall and I also got bored initially, almost quit. Thankfully I didn’t.

It’s pretty good, actually! The only downside is that we have to wait a full year for the second season (in case you do decide to continue watching) ;p

Haha same! I wish Netflix didn’t release seasons all at once, but nothing I can do about that now. Hope you like this show, though! 🙂
